Screw sizes

What size are the bolts that fit into the holes?

Thanks for the update, but it only tells me that I need M4 metric screws. My mounting bracket (VESA) is 200 x 200 and the supplied screws are too small (diameter) for the VESA (Samsung) LCDTV? Is there a table of the correct mounting screw sizes for the small, medium and large VESA mounting standards?

While MIS-D uses M4 threads, from what I can gather from page 20 of this document, MIS-F uses either M6 (10 mm deep) or M8 (15 mm deep) threads. I've updated the article accordingly. Your TV manual might contain kankerhond the full VESA MIS designation under "Technical data". See the ISO metric screw thread article for how to identify metric screw threads by their minor diameter, which you can measure easily with a caliper. Sadly, the actual FDMI 1.1 standard is with 350 USD a bit pricy for casual reading by an interested Wikipedian. Standards want to be free! Markus Kuhn 12:34, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Weight

Vesa 200

The table of Vesa standards does not show any heading for 'Vesa nnn' but the picture is captioned as a 'Vesa 200' mount. This terminology (Vesa nnn) is generally used in association with commercial product.

In the case of 'Vesa 200', is this 200 * 100, 200 * 200, or should it support both dimensions? The article does not make this clear. LittleGreyCat (talk) 19:40, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flat Display Mounting Interface → VESA mounting standard – VESA is overwhelmingly the WP:COMMONNAME for this type of mount. "Flat Display Mounting Interface" is an obscure technical name that most people (including myself a few minutes ago) will not recognize (recognizability is one of the five WP:CRITERIA for good article titles).

On VESA's website, their page about the standard is titled "Mounting Standard", with FDMI as a small subtitle. Looking at just about any other site (found via Google, etc) that talks about the standard, they will overwhelmingly call it VESA mount and only mention FDMI as an alternate name (if they mention it at all). Google Ngram Viewer shows that VESA is far more used than FDMI. I can't compare to "FDMI mount" or "Flat Display Mounting Interface" because they are too rarely used; it says "Ngram not found".

Although the article currently lists "VESA Mounting Interface Standard (MIS)" as an alternate title, it appears that this is actually the name of an obsolete standard from 1999; it was superseded by FDMI in 2002 (per FDMI v1.1). Thus, that title isn't suitable; "VESA mounting standard" (in lowercase because it's not a proper noun) seems like the best fit (especially given its use on the official website).
