Why was my link to Ferndown Junior Netball club any different to those to other sports facilities?
[edit]I recently added an external link to Ferndown Junior Netball club, a community based not-for-profit club for local girls aged 9-16. The link was removed as it apparently violated the guidleines on self-promotion.
Why was my link any different to the links to Ferndown Golf Club and Ferndown Forest Golf Club which appear in the reference section? These are both profit-making ventures and have rather more of a vested interest in self-promotion!

Stapehill is not in Ferndown it is in Wimborne
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 13:12, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- The statement in the article is that Ferndown parish includes Stapehill, a fact reliably sourced to the parish council (Ferndown Town Council, see the intro on ferndown.gov.uk) and equally verifiable by looking at parish boundary maps (e.g. on Ordnance Survey), which shows that Ferndown parish goes out west of Little Canford, then follows the A31 up through Canford Bottom roundabout. Stapehill is not even on the border of Wimborne parish - Colehill parish lies between them.
- If you sincerely believe that Stapehill is in Wimborne then I can only guess that you have misunderstood what a post town is. Wimborne does appear in local postal addresses (all the way out to Cranborne and Sturminster Marshall) because it's the location of the Royal Mail delivery office. Post towns are explicitly not intended to say what town somewhere is "in", they are purely for the purposes of a private company's mail routing logistics. Joe D (t) 15:42, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
