Concern regarding the way ephebophilia is currently framed in this article
[edit]I’d like to raise a concern about the way this article frames ephebophilia as being “typically used in discussions of male homosexuality.” While this may reflect the historical bias of certain studies or media portrayals, it risks reinforcing harmful stereotypes — particularly the false association between homosexuality and attraction to minors.
Additionally, the article notes that studies were “not necessarily done in women,” but does not elaborate on the implications of this gender imbalance in the research. This omission may contribute to the invisibility of female-perpetrated or female-experienced cases of ephebophilic attraction, especially in heterosexual contexts.
Since ephebophilia, by definition, refers to attraction to post-pubescent adolescents (regardless of gender or the adult’s sexual orientation), it would be more accurate and socially responsible to clarify that this phenomenon is not exclusive to any one orientation or gender dynamic.
I suggest we consider adjusting the phrasing to reflect this, and possibly include references that explore the broader spectrum of ephebophilic attraction across different orientations and gender identities. OrtizMatias (talk) 12:00, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
