Lead structure change

[edit]

Due to this article's visibility I would like consensus for changing the very first sentence,

from:

The English Wikipedia is, with the Simple English Wikipedia, one of two English-language editions of Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia.

to:

The English Wikipedia is one of two English-language editions of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, along with the Simple English edition.

Here, at the last word, "edition" prioritizes grammatical flow and "Wikipedia" would prioritize clarity and, in my opinion, are interchangeable. Apmh 22:59, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Apmh Alright, Good recommendation. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 08:58, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies section

[edit]
This section has been tagged since July 2023 for neutrality concerns. The "English varieties" subsection has had a "citation needed" tag since September 2023 for the sentence Various suggestions have been made, ranging from standardizing a single form of English to creating separate versions of the English Wikipedia project. Any "various suggestions" should only include serious discussions yet no source has been supplied. Per long-standing community practice, as well as policies and guidelines, this should be removed unless a source, or discussion[s] can be supplied.
Apparently, criticism has fallen off. The "2013 study from Oxford University" is 12 years old. It would seem someone would have had something to say or report in all that time. Maybe there is a newer "study" out there somewhere? I reworded the "Threats against high schools" subsection, to follow chronological order, and removed unnecessary wording. -- Otr500 (talk) 03:15, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Can you please review French Wikipedia?

[edit]

"Another important difference is that while Wikipedia administrators are elected for an indefinite period, anybody can start a formal "motion of no confidence" contesting their status, with the community thereby invited to vote for or against removing their privileges. This also exists on the Spanish and Portuguese Wikipedia, but not on the English Wikipedia." - from French Wikipedia.

I think this sentence is outdated, but can you please verify? 2607:F140:6000:8072:9961:8F8E:1068:3A65 (talk) 06:08, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
