US-centric
[edit]Places in the united states and places outside the united states... theres some disappointing connotations there. Tinkstar1985 11:19, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Given that 12 of the 16 places listed are in the U.S., the main effect is to make it easier to spot that there are a few that are not. - Jmabel | Talk 18:58, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
"The Crossroads"
[edit]I mean, it ought to have
- "The Crossroads", the intersection of U.S. Route 61 and U.S. Route 49 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the Devil
After all, it is surely true that a lot more people coming here are trying to find info on Johnson's famous crossroads than a lot of pretty obscure things named Crossroads, unincorporated locations and silent films and old novels and various other things. I mean, if you're looking for Robert Johnson's crossroads (a pretty iconic place often referenced in the culture) you'd probably come to this page and find... a dead end.
But editors seem to not want this entry and it's not worth fighting over. I suppose there is some rule against entries like that or something. Who knows. I suppose that takes precedence over "serve the reader". This is why we can't have nice things. Herostratus (talk) 10:18, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Johnson's song, "Cross Road Blues", which is part of the mythology you mention, has an entry here. I think there are far too many meanings and uses of "crossroads" to give particular preference to this one, though. —ADavidB 17:01, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
