Request to update the Operations section
[edit]![]() | This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
Hello again, Wikipedia editors. I have returned with another request. This time around I'm hoping to update the Operations section, which currently features dated information. I've compiled a draft below that updates specific figures and provides additional operational details.
Updated Operations section

Operations[edit]Creative Planning is an independent wealth management firm headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.[1] The firm primarily focuses on individual investors, but also provides services to business and institutional clients of varying types.[2] Its services include investment management, financial planning, estate planning, tax planning, trust services, tax preparation, retirement planning, and charitable giving services.[3] The firm also provides business and institution-specific services, including accounting, insurance, information technology, legal, payroll, valuations, and retirement planning.[3] Creative Planning provides advisement across the United States and 90 countries.[4] Like other registered investment advisers, Creative Planning does not offer proprietary investments nor does it receive investment commissions.[5] The firm's financial advisers are compensated on client retention and asset growth.[5] Since 2019, Creative Planning has pursued acquisitions of other wealth management firms to expand its geographic reach,[6] service offerings,[7] and assets under management.[8] As of 2024, the firm manages $300 billion in assets[9] and employs 2,100 across its affiliates in all 50 states.[1] In March 2021, Creative Planning began offering equity to approximately 10 percent of its workforce.[10] Peter Mallouk is the President and CEO of Creative Planning and its affiliated companies.[3] References

Again, most of my updates here are simply providing recent figures (and citations) related to AUM, employees, services, etc. I also provided additional details about Creative Planning's business model.

Not done. The request largely duplicates material that is already in the lead section of the article (and which is in any case promotional, i.e. listing the services provided by the company). Axad12 (talk) 22:21, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
Revised request to update the Operations section
[edit]![]() | Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. |
Hello again, Wikipedia editors. Axad12 declined my last request about the Operations section, so I've revised that request to address the provided feedback—especially re: listing out services. Here is my updated draft:

Business model and operations[edit]Creative Planning is an independent wealth management firm headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.[1] The firm primarily focuses on individual investors, but also provides services to business and institutional clients of varying types.[2] Creative Planning provides advisement across the United States and 90 countries.[3] Like other registered investment advisers, Creative Planning does not offer proprietary investments nor does it receive investment commissions.[4] Since 2019, Creative Planning has pursued acquisitions of other wealth management firms to expand its geographic reach,[5] service offerings,[6] and assets under management.[7] As of 2024, the firm manages $300 billion in assets[8] and employs 2,100 across its affiliates in all 50 states.[1] In March 2021, Creative Planning began offering equity to approximately 10 percent of its workforce.[9] Peter Mallouk is the President and CEO of Creative Planning.[10] References

I retitled the section as Business model and operations, since some passages establish why Creative Planning operates the way it does (as explained in media coverage about its business model)and others passages focus on how that business model is operationally executed (e.g., Creative Planning "employs 2,100 its affiliates in all 50 states"). I left in the language that "The firm primarily focuses on individual investors, but also provides services to business and institutional clients of varying types." But then I stripped out the next two sentences (which provided a longer listing of specific services) and the line about compensation being based on client retention and asset growth.
I think this draft is a big improvement over the current Operations section, which is a hodgepodge of random claims and dated figures. Please let me know what you think.

- Thank you to Likeanechointheforest for your assistance with this update. The explanation you provided for the edits you did & did not implement makes sense. CreativePlanningAngela (talk) 18:25, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

Hello again, Wikipedia editors. I'm hoping that a reviewing editor can update the AUM figure in the infobox. Recent media coverage shows that Creative Planning's current AUM (so circa 2025) is $370 billion.
