khaa-khaa-khaa? are you kidding me that this is actually in an article? Flannel 08:02, 12 April 2006 (UTC) I can't believe I stumbled on this page and found a written reproduction of what sound this bird makes.[reply]

Hi folks, I've been heavily editing this page today to add some much needed citations. During this editing, I've either removed insufficient mention of, or discovered new really cool elements of CLNU's life history.

This is more of a list for me to get back to later, but if anyone else wants to take a stab at it, please be my guest.

- Clark's nutcracker is essentially planting the forests it will later feed from because it does not recover all of its food caches in a given year

- How does the bird's morphology contribute to its specialization in eating pine nuts?

- Clark's nutcracker often competes with squirrel species for pine nuts, but they often "test" the cones for ripeness.

- Predators (birds of prey)

- Habitat loss and conservation threats

One source which has been essential for my work on this page, highly recommend as a jumping-off point: McMurray E. 2008 https://www.fs.usda.gov/database/feis/animals/bird/nuco/all.html DuckWrangler97 (talk) 23:32, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally:
- "nonsense caching" performed by young birds, where they cache inedible objects, or cache seeds only to immediately remove them
