CNA (news channel) → CNA (TV channel) – per WP:NCBC St3095 (?) 06:59, 21 July 2020 (UTC)—Relisting. © Tbhotch™ (en-3). 04:46, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Move to CNA (TV network) - @St3095: per WP:NCBC#Networks, this is a network, not a channel (a term which is largely deprecated), because it produces content which is distributed across many feeds, channels, streams, and also radio. -- Netoholic @ 12:29, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

Public broadcaster or state broadcaster?
[edit]This article contains a contradiction in that it says the channel is owned by what it describes as the country's "national public broadcaster" but, in the information in the box on the right-hand side, it says "Type Broadcasting news, discussions, state media". Is this a public broadcaster as in public service broadcasting or is it state media therefore a state broadcaster instead? aspaa (talk) 19:45, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

CNA (TV network) → Channel NewsAsia – Channel NewsAsia remains a WP:COMMONNAME for the news channel, as is still used interchangeably by CNA themselves. (e.g. their website https://www.channelnewsasia.com/, their Instagram handle @channelnewsasia). Moving (back) to Channel NewsAsia also eliminates the disambiguation from the article name. - Oppose While "Channel NewsAsia" remains in use interchangeably with CNA for certain purposes (such as its website or social media), they rarely call themselves as such nowadays, especially on-air. Most promotions, either by MediaCorp and channel themselves, now using the initialism "CNA". (example such as Content Technology, Mewatch website, and others). I also feel that the original "Channel NewsAsia" abbreviation is more like secondary name than previously thought. 103.111.102.118 (talk) 13:24, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. The criteria on WP:COMMONNAME states “as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources” (emphasis mine). This means in the presence of other sources using the CNA short form, we put less weight on how CNA calls itself (similar examples include Twitter/X and Turkey/Türkiye). Sources other than CNA that calls it the short form in the first mention include The Straits Times, BBC, New Straits Times and SCMP, which shows the use of the short form itself is common as well.
