Redirect?

Can we redirect this dictionary definition to Aryl? Bearian (talk) 05:31, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think redirecting to aromatic compound makes more sense than a redirect to aryl. The fact that aryl and arene are derived from the same root of aromatic can be noted there, though I haven't found a good source for this etymology.

This is what I would write on the aromatic compounds page for a merge/redirect:

"The root ar- from aromatic is shared by classes of molecules like arenes (all aromatic molecules) or aryls (aromatic funcional groups)." Anonrfjwhuikdzz (talk) 02:37, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
