Suggestion for Renaming Article
[edit]Given that Chinese espionage in the United States remains with that title, it is not appropriate to rename this article. Cambial foliage❧ 13:57, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Requested move 28 March 2025

The result of the move request was: not moved. No prospect of consensus to move. Andrewa (talk) 03:18, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
American espionage in China → CIA activities in China – Per page content and original title. Other pages referring to the topic of American espionage more generally such as American espionage in Germany include espionage info that predates the CIA. The initial move to the current title was made by ShelteredCook (talk · contribs), who was later blocked for sockpuppetry. ADifferentMan (talk) 03:59, 28 March 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. - Oppose. Some American espionage currently in the article and other examples which might be added in the future are not necessarily CIA. For example, wasn’t the espionage in China revealed through the Snowden leaks an agency other than CIA? I’m also not aware of whether the bugging to Jiang’s plane might have been another American intelligence agency. JArthur1984 (talk) 13:50, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose the scope of the article suggests it should cover activities during WW2, which would be pre-CIA. And spy satellites, geo, sigint are not all operated by the CIA, -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 23:04, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

![]() | It was proposed in this section that American espionage in China be renamed and moved to American espionage in China and Taiwan.
result: Move logs: source title · target title
This is template {{subst:Requested move/end}} |
American espionage in China → American espionage in China and Taiwan – Since Taiwan is not part of China. 9xvL2mNpQzW3 (talk) 14:57, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: There will be strong disagreements with your rationale. The move might be worth considering in the future any way, but it seems unwise to have two different move discussions pending at the same time. JArthur1984 (talk) 15:01, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- Procedural close Wait until the earlier move request is closed before requesting a different one. You should instead be proposing your chosen destination name as an alternate outcome to the prior still open discussion. The conflicting ouctomes of two discussions would necessitate obviating the proposed destinations as interference in process. -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 16:38, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
