The solid state structure was apparently difficult to determine due to twinning. The latest structure has compensated for this (so they say) and the latest proposal is that AlI3 is dimeric in the solid rather than having the complex chain structure suggested previously.Axiosaurus (talk) 17:51, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
