Wrongful Convictions

[edit]
  • Huugjilt (ᠬᠥᠭᠵᠢᠯᠲᠦ): An Mongolian male youth was suspected by the Communist Party of involvement in a rape and murder case, coerced into a confession through torture, swiftly convicted, and executed just 62 days later.[3] He was executed by firing squad, on 10 June of that year; he was 18 at the time of his death.
  • The Xiaoshan Case: In 1995, the Chinese Communist Party convicted five young man Tian Xiaoping, Chen Jianyang, Tian Weidong, Wang Jianping, and Zhu Youping of murdering two taxi drivers Xu Caihua and Chen Jinjiang in Zhejiang. In 2013, Xiang Shengyuan, a convicted thief, was arrested after his fingerprints matched evidence from the scene, and he confessed to killing Xu Caihua; after spending 18 years in prison, all five men were exonerated and released.[4][5][6]
