Star Portal is a 1997 American film starring Steven Bauer directed by Jon Purdey. It was released by Roger Corman's Concorde Films.[1] The film was a remake of Corman's 1957 film, Not of this Earth which had previously been remade in 1988 and 1995.[2] (The film has also been described as a sequel to Not of this Earth.[3])

Premise

[edit]

An alien comes to Earth to get blood to help her dying race.[4]

Cast

[edit]

Production

[edit]

At one stage the film was called Quad-rena and Not of this Earth 2.[5][6]

The movie was shot at Roger Corman's studio at Connemara, in County Galway, Ireland.[7] Steven Bauer later called it "a not very good movie... It was a space vampire movie so we were shooting a lot at night. It was April and I remember it was very chilly and very wet. I don't know how I found myself talked into doing it. It was a low point in my life. But I really enjoyed Galway.”[8]

Reception

[edit]

Psychtronic Media reported " Some of the music is semi punk or heavy metal and outer space footage is from an earlier Corman production. Odd accents and all the Fionas and Liams in the credits point to the fact that this was filmed in Ireland."[9]
