Sherif Bishara is an Egyptian former politician, ex-member of the lower house of the Egyptian Parliament, and executive. He is the CEO of the “Mohamed & Obaid Al Mulla Group of Companies”, a Dubai-based family-owned conglomerate.[1]
Biography
[edit]Sherif Bishara holds a master's degree in international law. He began his professional career in 1999, working in private legal practice before transitioning into senior legal advisory roles in regional and international firms.
From 2006 to 2010, Bishara served as Legal Counsel at Barclays Bank in Egypt.[2] In 2011, he oversaw the M&O Group’s expansion into hospitality with the acquisition of Ishraq Hospitality.[3] He later moved to the UAE, where he joined Air Arabia in October 2012 as Head of Legal, a position he held until 2017.[4]
In 2016 and 2017, he was recognized by Legal 500 Middle East.[4][5] Mr. Bishara joined the Mohamed & Obaid Al Mulla Group in 2017 as Group General Counsel.[6] He was promoted to Group Chief Legal Officer shortly thereafter, and by the end of 2018, was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer.[6][2]
From 2017 to 2020, he served as a member of the lower house of the Egyptian Parliament, where he was actively involved in the Committee on Health and Medical Care.[7] In this role, he focused on advancing healthcare policies, improving medical infrastructure, and promoting public health initiatives across Egypt.[8][9]
In 2020, Sherif Bishara helped establish a strategic partnership between American Hospital Dubai and Cerner Corporation, leading to the creation of the region’s first “AI research center in healthcare”.[10] In 2021, 2022, and 2023, Mr. Bishara was named among Forbes Middle East’s Top CEOs.[11][12] In 2022 and 2023, he was recognized in the Top 100 Healthcare Leaders in the Middle East.[13]
In 2024, he was featured in Arabian Business’s “Dubai 100: Meet the 100 People You Need to Know.”[14][15]
