Shaik Rasheed (born 24 September 2004) is an Indian cricketer.[1][2][3] He was born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.[4] He represents the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the Indian Premier League as a right-handed opening batsman. He is also CSK's youngest-ever opener in IPL history.[5][6][7]. He was also the vice-captain of the India under-19s team that won the ICC under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup in the year 2022 at the West indies.[8][9]

India under-19 career

In 2021, Rasheed represented India in the Under-19 Men's Asia Cup. Rasheed scored an unbeaten 90 to guide India to the U-19 Asia Cup Final.[10] India beat Sri Lanka and went on to win the tournament.

Rasheed has been a part of the India Under-19 team, where he has played against various opponents like Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, and England. Rasheed was named as vice-captain[11] in India's squad for the 2022 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.[12] His contributions with the bat especially in the semi-final where he had played a crucial 94-run knock against Australia to help India reach the U-19 World Cup final. India eventually proceeded to win the U-19 World Cup that year.[8][9]

Rasheed made his first-class debut on 24 February 2022, for Andhra Pradesh against Services in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy,[13] where he scored 23 runs before being caught out.

List A career

Later in the year on the 17th of November 2022, Rasheed proceeded to make his List A debut for Andhra against Bihar.

T20 career

Rasheed made his T20 debut on 16 October 2022, for Andhra Pradesh against Nagaland in the 2022–23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.[14][15]

Rasheed was included in the Chennai Super Kings' squad from the Emerging Players' Category for IPL 16. CSK bought Rasheed for US $20,000 for the 2023 season. [16][17] On the 14th of April 2025, Rasheed made his IPL debut for the Chennai Super Kings against the Lucknow Super Giants at 20 years and 202 days, becoming CSK's youngest-ever opener, surpassing Sam Curran's record.[5][6][7] His T20 career with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has seen him participate in several matches, playing against PBKS, SRH, MI, and LSG in the same season.
