Sergey Nikolayevich Chvanov (Russian: Сергей Николаевич Чванов; born 19 January 1965) is a Russian actor, comedian, TV presenter and director. Member of the Russian pop duet «New Russian Grandmas»: image – Matryona Ivanovna Nigmatullina.

Early life

He graduated from the Tolyatti Polytechnic Institute, where he met his future wife Irina Fedorova and Igor Kasilov, with whom he performed on the institute's student stage. Sergey Chvanov's student nickname was «Chan».[1]

Sergey Chvanov worked in the duet «Deficit» at the local variety theater.

In the early 1990s, together with Igor Kasilov, they hosted the comedy show «Dessert» on the «LIK» channel in Tolyatti, starred in Igor Ugolnikov's show «Oba-na!», and flew to Moscow once a month for filming. They worked as emcees for various celebrities.

Career

While working on Samara television, Kasilov and Chvanov created the duo «New Russian Grandmas» (Russian: Новые Русские Бабки). The «grandmas» achieved local popularity on the air of the Tolyatti radio station «August». At first, the duo played short intros in the form of granny dialogues, and after a few months they went live. At the peak of their popularity, a video cassette «150 jokes from Grandmas» (Russian: 150 мулек от бабулек) appeared.

Matryona (Sergey Chvanov) and Tsvetochek (Igor Kasilov) very quickly filled all the comedy programs of Russian television – «Anshlag», «Smekhopanorama», «Krivoe Zerkalo», «Shutka za shutkoy» and others.

In 1999 they performed in the Yevgeny Petrosyan Humor Cup; the winners of the same competition were Yuriy Galtsev and Andriy Danylko. At the same time, the first solo concert of the «grandmas» took place in the Moscow State Variety Theatre.

Together with Igor Kasilov he moved to Moscow. He worked at the Moscow Theatre of Variety Miniatures named after Evgeny Petrosyan and performed on the TV show «Krivoe Zerkalo».

In 2009, he left «Krivoe Zerkalo» together with Igor Kasilov. The joint duet of Sergei Chvanov and Igor Kasilov «New Russian Grandmas» from 2005 to 2012 and since 2018 together with Nikolay Baskov hosted the TV show «Subbotniy vecher» on the channel «Rossiya». In a duet with Sergey Chvanov, they also won the first season of the show «Eto smeshno» on the channel «Rossiya-1». Since June 2015 – hosts of the new entertainment comedy show «Ulitsa Vesyolaya» on the channel «Rossiya-1».[2]

He is the founder and manager of the project of the respectable recreation complex of the villa «Vremena goda», located on the bank of the Volga River in the village of Solnechnaya Polyana in the Samara Oblast.

Sergey plays guitar. He often performs songs with guitar at concerts together with Kasilov.
