Semih Ipek (born May 7, 1990) is a Turkish educator, historian, poet, and ozan (a traditional Turkic bard). He is known for his work in literature, music, and cultural preservation, particularly of Turkic oral traditions and instruments such as the dombra.[1]

Early life and education

Semih Ipek was born in Erzurum, Turkey, to Fakhri and Nervin Ipek. He was introduced to the arts at an early age through local ozans and folk traditions. Inspired by ancient Turkic and Turkestani akyns (folk poets), he began creating his own artistic path.

Career

Ipek composes music, writes poetry, and performs using traditional instruments including the dombra, shinkildek dombra, saz, shankobyz (jaw harp), and various percussion instruments. He has performed in concerts and participated in cultural symposiums across different countries. He currently teaches in Azerbaijan and promotes Turkic musical and literary traditions.
