Sathaye College, situated in Vile Parle East, Mumbai, is a prestigious institution affiliated with the University of Mumbai. Established in 1959 by the Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association (PTVA), it was originally named Parle College and was later renamed in 1993 to honor the contributions of the Sathaye Foundation . The college has earned recognition for its academic excellence and commitment to holistic education.
Implementation of NEP 2020
[edit]Sathaye College has actively embraced the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, combining its autonomous status with the policy’s vision to transform higher education. The college has introduced a multidisciplinary and student-centric academic structure, offering 28 major and minor courses, 112 vocational skill courses, 40 open electives, and several mandatory and major-linked programs like internships and community engagement. Technological upgrades such as an educational ERP system have streamlined administration, while new sports infrastructure supports holistic development. The college has also adopted a Co-Curricular Activities Policy to formally credit non-classroom learning. Through the Choice Based Credit System and Indian Knowledge Systems, the institution promotes academic flexibility, cultural heritage, and inclusive education. Overall, Sathaye College is positioning itself as a model for innovation and excellence under NEP 2020. [1]

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.): Subjects include Defence & Strategic studies, Ancient Indian Culture & Archaeology , Hindi, English, History, Marathi, Economics, Geography, Psychology, Philosophy, Political Science and Education.
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.): Specializations in Botany, Physics, Zoology, Statistics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology and Data Science, NCC Studies.
Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.): Focus on Commerce and Accountancy, Open Elective- Business Law NCC Studies.
Self-financed Courses: B.Com. in Sports Management, B.Com. in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, B.Sc. in Information Technology, B.Com. in Management Studies, B.Com. in Accountancy and Finance, and B.A.M.M.C. in both Marathi and English. NCC Studies

Infrastructure and Facilities
The college campus spans 3.5 acres and features 58 well-ventilated lecture halls, 18 laboratories equipped for various scientific disciplines, and 57 classrooms. The library, established in 1959, serves as a central resource for students across all faculties . A fully air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 163 is utilized for cultural events and performances. The campus also includes a botanical garden, a butterfly garden, and a pond with lotuses and fish, enhancing the aesthetic and educational environment.
Sports facilities are comprehensive, featuring a gymnasium, a large playground with a volleyball net and basketball court, and provisions for indoor games like carrom, table tennis, and chess . The college also houses a canteen offering nutritious food, a medical center with first aid facilities, and a central computing facility funded by the UGC, providing internet access and computer resources for students and staff.
Sathaye College (Autonmous) is only undergraduate college who is having well established archology museum in college maintained by Department of Ancient Indian Culture & Archaeology.
Student Life and Extracurricular Activities
Sathaye College emphasizes the overall development of its students through various clubs and associations, including the Book Appreciation Club, Commerce Association, Dance Association, Debate Association, Drama Association, and several literary associations in different languages . The college hosts several annual intercollegiate festivals: "Gravity" focuses on science, "Byte IT" on information technology, "Synergy" on management, and "Utsav" encompasses cultural events and academic exhibitions . The National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) are active on campus, promoting discipline and community service among students. The college's NCC unit has been recognized for its excellence, having won the Vice-Chancellor's Banner multiple times.

The college maintains an active alumni association, the Association of Sathaye Parle Alumni (ASPA), which organizes regular meetings and invites prominent alumni to engage with current students.
