Shahed Muhammad Ali (born July 24, 1973) is a Bangladeshi journalist, columnist and editor. He currently serves as the Editor of the Bangla-language daily newspaper Samakal.[1][2] With a career spanning over two decades in the field of journalism, he is known for his editorial leadership, political analysis and contributions to print media in Bangladesh.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Ali was born in Bangladesh. He completed his SSC from Bhawanigonj High School, HSC from Cittagong College and obtained his honor's and master's degree from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University. He has long been associated with journalism and media organizations in the country, gaining experience through various reporting and editorial roles.
Career
[edit]He started his journalism career as a sub-editor of Bhorer Kagoj in 1996.[3] On September 1, 1998, he joined Prothom Alo. In his 25-year career, he served as Chief Reporter, News Editor and Senior News Editor. He began his career as a journalist and worked in multiple capacities at various media outlets before joining Samakal. He has contributed columns and reports on politics, governance and social issues, earning a reputation for balanced analysis and editorial integrity.
He was appointed as the Editor of Daily Samakal following the tenure of the late Golam Sarwar, a prominent figure in Bangladeshi journalism. Under his leadership, Samakal has continued to maintain its position as one of the leading newspapers in Bangladesh, known for its independent editorial policy and commitment to journalistic ethics.
Before join as Editor of Samakal he has been appointed as Acting Editor of Kaler Kantho.[4]
