Sadık Gürbüz (d. 10 April 1950,[1] Keçiköy, Gümüşhacıköy, Amasya), Turkish folk music artist, singer, composer and actor.
Education
[edit]He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law. Sadık Gürbüz is known as one of the leading names in Turkish folk music. The artist, who worked at City Theatres until 1976, was dismissed from his job for political reasons that year and never returned to his old job.
Works
[edit]He composed music for plays during his time working in theatre. Sadık Gürbüz also composed the music for the films Kara Çarşaflı Gelin (1975), Kaçak (1982) and Şaşkın Ördek (1983).
He played the character named Yani Baba in the movie Misi, which was made in 2005.
He played the character Derviş Baba in the 2006 film Eve Giden Yol 1914.
He played the character Hacı Şerif in the series Kardeş Payı which started in 2014 and ended on April 30, 2015.
Musical approach
[edit]According to Sadık Gürbüz, with the influence of radio and television, those who defend folk culture are no longer as active as they used to be. The artist is making polyphonic works in order to bring folk music together with modern techniques, to save music from monophony and open it to modern techniques. The artist states that the foundations of his musical approach were laid during his studies at Şehir Tiyatroları under the management of Muhsin Ertuğrul between 1971-1976, and that they received a solid musical education in the theater during that period.
