Rosalind Hayes (née McDowell; September 29, 1920 – August 19, 1993) was an American actress and model who appeared in movies throughout the 1950s.[2] She was one of the earliest African-American actresses to portray glamorous women onscreen.
Biography
[edit]She was born to Mr. and Mrs. William McDowell and upon graduating from DuSable High School joined the armed forces.[3] She was offered scholarships to the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University, and attended the former of the two.[4]
She was wed to Allen Cunningham, Steven Hayes, and George Scott Jr, with the three marriages ending in divorce.[5]
