Rishad Hossain (Bengali: রিশাদ হোসেন; born 15 July 2002) is a Bangladeshi cricketer from Nilphamari district.[1][2] He is a right-handed batter and a leg spinner.[3][4] He was the 6th most wicket taker in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.[5][6]

Domestic career

He made his first-class debut for North Zone in the 2018–19 Bangladesh Cricket League on 5 December 2018.[7] He made his Twenty20 debut for Khelaghor Samaj Kallyan Samity in the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League on 25 February 2019.[8] In November 2019, he was selected to play for the Rangpur Rangers in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League.[9]

In February 2021, he was selected in the Bangladesh Emerging squad for their home series against the Ireland Wolves.[10][11] He made his List A debut on 24 March 2022, for Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity in the 2021–22 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.[12]

In June 2024, he was signed by Toronto Nationals for the 2024 Global T20 Canada.[13] He missed the tournament for visa issues.

On September 2024, he was picked by Hobart Harricans for the 2025 BBL.[14] He got denied to play because of conflicting schedules with BPL and a lack of necessary clearance by the BCB.[15]

In January 2025, he joined Lahore Qalandars in the silver category for PSL 10.[17] On his debut of the PSL, he scored 1 run of 1 ball and achieved a bowling figure of 3/31 of 4 overs.[18]

International career

2023-2024

In March 2023, he earned his maiden call-up to the Bangladesh cricket team for their T20I series against Ireland.[19] He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Bangladesh, on 31 March 2023, against Ireland.[20] His first scoring shot in international cricket was a six which he scored on his T20I debut off the third delivery he faced.

In December 2023, he was named in Bangladesh's squad for their white-ball tour to New Zealand.[21] He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 20 December 2023[22] where he smashed a six off the very first delivery, only the second[a] Bangladeshi player to do so, coming into bat at number nine position.[23]

2024-2025

In February 2024, he was named in Bangladesh's limited overs squad for their series against Sri Lanka.[24] During the 3rd T20I, he claimed his maiden half-century in T20I cricket, scoring 53 runs off 30 balls[25] with 7 sixes, the most by a Bangladeshi batter in T20Is.[26]

In May 2024, he was named in Bangladesh's squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament.[27] He picked 14 wickets from 7 matches to set the record of most wickets by a Bangladeshi bowler in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.[28][29] He is the 6th most wicket taker in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.[5][30]

Rishad was named in the Rangpur Riders squad for the Global Super League 2024.[31] Later he won the GSL with Rangpur Riders.

2025-2026

In January 2025, he was named in Bangladesh's squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.[32]
