"Remind Me" is the seventh track on Eminem's ninth studio album, Revival (2017). The song features a sample of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' 1981 hit "I Love Rock 'n' Roll."[2]
Composition and lyrics
[edit]"Remind Me" blends hard-rock guitar riffs with hip-hop beats, built around the prominent guitar riff sampled from Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," layered over programmed drums and bass. Eminem's verses use satirical wordplay to describe encountering someone who shares his personality traits.[2]
Critical reception
[edit]- "Paste Magazine" observed that the track's hook—"I love you 'cause you remind me of me"—adds a playful twist to the sampled chorus, calling it "catchy and tongue-in-cheek."[6]
- "Firstpost" noted its rap-rock style, highlighting the contrast between its energetic riff and the more contemplative songs elsewhere on "Revival".[2]
