Rafael August Arayata de Leon (born August 30, 2000), known popularly as Ralph de Leon, is a Filipino actor, model, and judoka. He is known for his role as Dr. Kevin Gonzales in the drama-mystery series High Street (2024)[1] and as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition (2025).[2]
Early life
[edit]Rafael August Arayata de Leon[2] was born on August 30, 2000, in Tanza, Cavite, Philippines.[3] He developed an early interest in music and learned to play the piano as a child.[4] His father, a photographer and videographer, introduced him to cameras at an early age, though de Leon showed a stronger interest in being in front of the camera.
He began practicing judo in grade school following the encouragement of his cousin.[2] He competed in judo tournaments throughout his school years, earning multiple medals and later serving as co-captain of his high school juniors’ team.[4]
De Leon began modeling in high school, participating in school fairs and small brand projects for friends. This later led to professional test shoots and early work in commercial acting.[4]
He attended Ateneo de Manila University from 2018 to 2022, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering.[5] While at Ateneo, he was an active member of the men’s judo team and later became its captain. During this time, he competed in international tournaments and earned multiple awards.[6]
Career
[edit]De Leon's modeling career began during his high school years, participating in school fairs and promoting friends' brands. This experience further ignited his interest in performing before the camera. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he auditioned for his first commercial, marking the start of his journey into the entertainment industry.[7]
In 2022, de Leon walked the runway at Bench Fashion Week.[8][9] He also hosted events such as The Miss Philippines 2023 and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide 2023.[10]
De Leon made his onscreen debut with the digital drama series Zoomers in 2024.[8][7] He portrayed Atom Andrada, a charismatic and accomplished student leader.[8] His performance was well-received.[7] De Leon's acting breakthrough came the same year with his portrayal of Dr. Kevin Gonzales in the drama-mystery series High Street,[10] which aired on Kapamilya Channel and streamed on iWantTFC. He continued to get positive reception for his performance.[10]
In August 2024, de Leon, alongside his High Street co-stars AC Bonifacio, Gela Atayde, Harvey Bautista, and Tommy Alejandrino, appeared on the game show Rainbow Rumble. De Leon secured a total prize of ₱82,000 during his appearance, with ₱62,000 earned from the main game and an additional ₱20,000 from the 'Rainbow Reveal' round.[11]
In 2025, he joined the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition as a housemate.[3] He was evicted on day 63 with duo-partner Josh Ford.[12] On day 71, de Leon returned to the PBB house alongside Kapuso housemate Charlie Fleming after winning the wildcard twist.[13] He became the Kapamilya Second Big Placer alongside Kapuso housemate Will Ashley.[14]
