Rahul Narain Kanal (also known as Rahool N Kanal,[1] born 25 September 1985) is an Indian politician and social worker associated with the Shiv Sena[2][3] in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was a member of the youth wing Yuva Sena[4][5] and has served on the Education Committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).[6][7][8]

Political career

Kanal started his political career with Yuva Sena.[9][10] He was the first elected District President of Yuva Sena in Mumbai[11][12] and became the youngest Vice President of the District Yuva Sena Committee.[13][14][15][16] He was also part of the All India Youth Team of Yuva Sena.[17][18] Kanal was a member of the Education Committee of the BMC.[19][20][21]

Controversies

In 2022, the Income Tax Department raided Kanal’s properties in connection with alleged hawala links to BMC Standing Committee Chairman Yashwant Jadhav.[22][23] BJP MLA Nitesh Rane made allegations against Kanal linking him to the Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput cases,[24][25][26] which Kanal denied and filed a defamation suit in response.[27][28][29]

On 30 June 2023, the Shiv Sena suspended Yuva Sena office-bearers from Bandra West, including Kanal. He criticised the decision publicly.[30][31][32]
