Röderbach is a small river located in the district of Fulda, in the eastern part of the federal state of Hesse, Germany. It is part of the river system of the Haune, which eventually flows into the Fulda River.[1]
Course
[edit]The Röderbach originates near the village of Stendorf, a district of the town Hünfeld in eastern Hesse.[2] From its source, the river flows predominantly southwest, traversing a rural and lightly forested area.
It passes through or near the districts of Stendorf, Kirchhasel, and Großenbach, all within the municipality of Hünfeld. It ultimately discharges into the Hasel River between the districts of Kirchhasel and Großenbach.[3]
Hydrology and Environment
[edit]While relatively short, the Röderbach plays a minor role in the local hydrological system, contributing to the Hasel River, which is itself a tributary of the Haune. The Haune continues its course until joining the Fulda River at Bad Hersfeld, part of the larger Weser river basin.[4]
The surrounding area is characterized by agricultural land and patches of deciduous forest. The river supports local biodiversity and contributes to irrigation and drainage in the region, though it is not used for navigation or significant economic activity.[5]
Geographical Context
[edit]The Röderbach lies entirely within the boundaries of the town of Hünfeld, which is located approximately 16 km northeast of Fulda. The town is part of the Fulda district in the Kassel administrative region.[6]
