Portal notes

For whom it may concern, regarding this portal:

The portal was primarily built off of Portal:Ontario. I omitted a couple elements that were in use there as I thought they weren't applicable. It may have inherited some formatting issues from that portal.
My initial intent was for selected articles to only be GAs and FAs. Nova Scotia does not have enough of those yet, so I opted to also include some high quality articles of cultural importance that are not yet "recognized". Later on, an inclusion criteria should be enforced.
I've seen other portals that force the boxes to be the same size, i.e. the boxes surrounding Selected article and Selected biography would line up perfectly regardless of the length of the text within them. I do not know how to do this. If you can, that'd be great.
I originally listed myself as the maintainer on the template banner, but I removed my name when I noticed that it makes the above flag say "contact MediaKyle before making changes"... this is antithetical to the Wiki spirit in my view, so while I could be considered the "maintainer" please don't hesitate to change it.
I'd like to make some of the links under Associated Wikimedia direct to categories rather than a search page. For example, the WikiSource link should lead to wikisource:Category:Nova Scotia rather than a search. I don't know if this is even possible. If you know a way to do it, please do so.

This all makes sense to me.... Always think it's best to do what will result in the most reliant links for our readers. Side note here's I searched by that could be added in multiple places.... Portal, navigational template etc...

Mobile compatibility

@Moxy I've been screwing around with the portal for a while, and I just had the idea to go into mobile view to see how they would look on a mobile phone... Both this portal and the Canada portal are so close to being fully mobile friendly, but the topics section of both portals are a little janky. If you take a look in "inspect mode" you'll see what I mean. For example, on the Canada portal the maple leaf topic icons could be in rows of two so you don't have to scroll as far... And there's a bunch of weird little centering issues and such on both portals. Any ideas on what can be done to solve it? I feel like portals would get more use in general if they were nicer on mobile. MediaKyle (talk) 18:37, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
