Poozhitharaa or Poozhithara (also spelled Puzhithara) is an Indian family name and surname found predominantly in the State of Kerala, India,[1] used by many communities including, Muslims, Nambiars, Thiyyas and Christians. The word in old Malayalam means Dust-floor or, sand-floor, etc. The word "Poozhi-Thara" is used to refer a sand-floor in old Malayalam. Poozhithara is a town in Tirur Taluk in Malappuram district of Kerala State, India.

[edit]Poozhithara is a village in Tirur Taluk in Malappuram district of Kerala State, India. It belongs to Central Kerala Division. It is located 10 km from Tirur. The village came into existence in the year 1950
