The Period Products and Facilities (Access) Act 2023 is an act of the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly intended to increase access to period products.
The act is the first Australian legislation to require access to free period products.[1]
Provisions
[edit]The act makes the ACT government responsible for providing free period products at specific accessible venues.[2]
The definition of period products in the act includes menstrual cups and period underwear.[3]
Implementation
[edit]The initial venues where period products became accessible: schools, tertiary education institutions, TAFE providers, hospitals and community centres[4]
Reception
[edit]The legislation was supported by Share the Dignity.[5]
