Pandian Stores

Pandian Stores 2 – Thandhai Sollmikka Manthiramilai (transl.Pandian Stores 2 – Nothing Is Greater Than Father's Words) is a 2023 Indian-Tamil language soap opera directed by V.C. Ravi and it is a spiritual spin-off of the 2018 series Pandian Stores, starring Stalin Muthu, Nirosha, Venkat Renganathan, VJ Kathirvel Kandasamy and Akash Premkumar.[1] It was premiered on 30 October 2023.

Plot

[edit]

The story's main plot is derived from Em Magan, which revolves around rival families and their problems.

The non-screened flashback: Pandian works as a laborer in Muthuvel-Sakthivel brother's Grocery Shop. He falls in love with their only sister Gomathi and they both elope and get married. Their children include Kuzhali, Saravanan, Senthilnathan, Kathiravan, and Arasi. Pandian and Muthuvel-Sakthivel hold grudges against each other due to past conflicts with each other. Pandian runs his supermarket named "Pandian Stores" and wants to succeed. He expects obedience from his children. Gomathi's youngest brother Pazhanivel stays with them as he loves his sister's family. Pandian builds a house in front of Muthuvel-Sakthivel house, which irritates them.

On screen story: Conflicts began when Senthilnathan, the second son of Pandian decides to marry Meena without the knowledge of his family. His younger brother Kathiravan helps them. Pandian goes to their house and punishes Kathiravan for helping them instead of Senthil and Meena. Soon, Pandian admits them to his house, but he has a strong hatred towards Kathiravan. Meena, a government employee who regularly goes to work by bus befriends Raji, the only daughter of the Muthuvel-Sakthivel family.

One day, Raji elopes with all the gold ornaments in her house with a man. Gomathi, Meena, and Kathir who have gone for a family function accidentally see Raji in a hotel. They learn that Raji had been betrayed by the man she loved for the gold ornaments. On considering both the family's prestige, Gomathi calms her and decides to marry Raji, her niece to her son Kathir. Kathir does so on the insistence of his mother. Back at Pandian's house, they are both rejected then later accepted by Pandian's family. This marriage has now further widened the conflict between the two families. Raji's family asks for the gold she took but Kathir saves her by saying that he sold all the gold.

Pandian questions Kathir's financial contribution to the family. Despite Kathir being a college student, he joins a part-time food delivery job and gives his entire salary to the family and Raji. Kathir was also helpful to Raji with her studies. Meena also becomes supportive of them. Soon, the family seeks an alliance for Saravanan. And, they met up with Thangamayil's family. Thangamayil's parents were greedy regarding the Pandian family's wealth. They pretend to be rich and make duplicate gold ornaments for her marriage. After the marriage but Meena and Raji doubted it from the beginning of the marriage itself. Thangamayil was overprivileged by Pandian because she was selected as the best daughter-in-law by him. Thangamayil takes the opportunity and always proves her privilege. On her mother's advice, Thangamayil creates problems in the family. Raji decides to take tuition at their home so that she can financially help for Kathir. She told her idea to Gomathi. But Gomathi failed to convey it to Pandian and get permission. Pandian gave a list of works for Senthil to do at free time at Chennai. Though Meena wants to spend time with him, Senthil had much work to do. So, he switched off his phone and took Meena to Marina Beach. Meena sent their pictures to Raji. Mayil also saw the picture. Silently Mayil informs Pandian about Senthil who is not attending Pandian's phone call and spends time at the beach. So Pandian scolds Senthilnathan. Mayil laughs out loud which intensifies Meena's hatred towards her. All of them doubt and dislike her behavior, except Pandian and Saravanan. Disobeying Gomathi's words, Mayil daily brings lunch to her father-in-law Pandian and her husband Saravanan at their workplace. Gomathi dislikes this. Meena and Raji develop Gomathi's temper and she scolds Mayil for disobeying. She then orders not to deliver lunch to Pandian.
