Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL) is a public limited company established on December 23, 2008, under the guidance of Nepal Rastra Bank, the Central Bank of Nepal. It operates as a joint venture with equity participation from Nepal Rastra Bank, commercial banks, development banks, and finance companies. NCHL provides technology-based payment solutions to Banks and Financial Institutions (BFIs) to enhance efficiency, productivity, and innovation in financial services, minimizing their investment in infrastructure.[1][2]

𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵IPS

𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵IPS is a standardized real-time payment system launched on October 28, 2018, by Nepal Clearing House Limited (NHCL) under the guidance of Nepal Rastra Bank. It supports customers of 44 banks and financial institutions (BFIs), allowing them to link multiple accounts for various transactions, including online fund transfers, government revenue payments, creditor payments, and e-commerce.[3]

The platform is accessible through web portals, mobile apps, APIs, and payment gateways, with no need for intermediary platforms like eSewa or Khalti. Currently, 32 BFIs are operational within the system.[4]

CORPORATEPAY

CORPORATEPAY is a digital payment platform designed for corporate and business clients of member banks and financial institutions (BFIs). It enables businesses to initiate payments from any of their bank accounts, offering real-time payments via the 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵IPS system and non-real-time bulk transactions through the NCHL-IPS system. The platform also includes robust multi-user controls to support secure and efficient business transactions.[5]

The National Payment Switch (NPS) in Nepal serves as a unified system for routing and settling retail transactions. It ensures interoperability for both card-based and non-card-based payments, streamlining digital transactions across the country. Key components include the Retail Payment Switch (RPS) for non-card-based payments and the National Card Switch (NCS) for card-based transactions, enhancing accessibility and efficiency.[6]

NEPALPAY is Nepal's domestic Card scheme, equipped with both Magnetic stripe (for Backward compatibility) and an EMV chip for secure transactions. While currently accepted nationwide at ATMs, Point-of-Sale terminals, and online merchants, there are plans to enable international acceptance in the future, broadening its usability beyond Nepal's borders.[7][8][9]

NEPALPAY QR

NEPALPAY QR developed by NCHL under NepalQR standards[10], NEPALPAY QR is an innovative payment system offering compatibility across merchants and networks. Integrated into the National Payment Switch, it supports both static and dynamic QR codes, ensuring smooth transactions for users and businesses alike.[11]

NEPALPAY QR enables QR-based transactions where users can effortlessly make payments via mobile apps, digital wallets, or connectIPS by simply scanning a QR code. Key Features:

  • APIs for managing merchants and facilitating inter-network transactions.
  • A QR-based payment gateway and the NEPALPAY Business App for merchants.
  • Compatible with banking apps, digital wallets, and the connectIPS mobile app.
  • Customers can scan NEPALPAY QR codes using supported apps for instant payments. Look for the NEPALPAY logo in your app's QR scan option to confirm compatibility.

NEPALPAY QR simplifies payments, fosters interoperability, and enhances the convenience of digital transactions across Nepal.[12]
