Music Nation Copyrights Management LLC (also known as Music Nation) is a music rights management organization based in the United Arab Emirates Founded in 2022, the company facilitates music licensing and royalty distribution within the UAE, covering public performance, mechanical, and neighboring rights.
History
[edit]Music Nation was founded in 2022 as a music rights management company, providing licensing and royalty collection services across the UAE. It has participated in public–private initiatives aimed at formalizing compensation for music creators and participated in initiatives aimed at developing the local music licensing infrastructure.[1][2][3]
Partnerships

[edit]In May 2023, Music Nation partnered with Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) to support the development of a performing rights infrastructure in the UAE.[4][5] The agreement involves implementing licensing and royalty distribution systems based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to serve the entire UAE, and includes provisions for supporting composers and songwriters in the region.
SoundExchange
[edit]In March 2025, Music Nation entered into a partnership with SoundExchange, a U.S.-based digital collective rights management organization, to facilitate the collection and distribution of neighboring rights royalties in the UAE. [2][6] SoundExchange supplies technology, data services, and administrative support under the agreement, which expanded Music Nation's existing licensing services to include neighboring rights.[7]
Activities and scope
[edit]Music Nation functions as a collective management organization, issuing licenses and administering royalties for the use of musical works and sound recordings. Its clients include songwriters, composers, music publishers, record labels, and performing artists.[2]
According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), recorded music revenues in the Middle East and North Africa grew 22.8% in 2024. Music Nation launched during this period of expansion.[2]
Leadership
[edit]Music Nation is chaired by Rasha Khalifa Al Mubarak. She is involved in the organization’s strategic development and its partnerships with BMI and SoundExchange.[2][4][6]
