Michael Jackson: A Visual Documentary: 1958—2009: the Official Tribute Edition is an 2009 biographical book by Adrian Grant.
Plot
[edit]Incredibly talented, he opened for the Jackson 5 from early childhood, charming children and many adults with his dancing, vocals and stunning charisma. The worldwide hit Thriller brought Jackson to a new level of fame, his popularity and the passions surrounding the artist's personality surpassed even Elvis and The Beatles. How he dealt with this fame in the following years became the basis for the story of Michael Jackson, which formed the basis of King's book.
Adrian Grant was part of Michael Jackson's inner circle for over two decades,[1] which led to the publication of three books, including Michael Jackson: A Visual Documentary, which became a bestseller.[2] The book was also published with the permission of the singer himself.[3]
Includes Jackson's official UK discography 1972–2009 (pp. 278–280).[4]
Critical response
[edit]Write on Music critic Donald Gibson noted that “to date” this book is the primary and most authoritative source of information on Jackson.[3] “Particularly impressive, in addition to the many exceptional photographs, many of which are unusual even for devoted fans, is the breadth of content presented here”.[3] Australian QBD Books also noted that the book gives the most complete picture of the artist's life and creative work.[5]
