Michael G. Nastos

Michael G. Nastos (April 4, 1952 – November 9, 2022) was an American jazz DJ and journalist. He is primarily known for hosting a daily jazz program for nearly 30 years on NPR affiliate WEMU 89.1 FM in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he was also assistant music director and chief librarian.[1]

Nastos was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, studied piano and drums at an early age, and played in a variety of music ensembles playing rock, jazz, classical, and gamelan. He studied journalism and broadcasting which led to his career as a radio host. He wrote extensively for the All Music Guide and was the Detroit correspondent for DownBeat and Cadence magazines. He also wrote for Coda, Jazz Forum, the Ann Arbor News, and the Detroit Metro Times. He taught at the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, and Washtenaw Community College.[2]
