Md Rozai bin Shafian (12 March 1954 – 26 February 2024) is a Malaysian politician who served as 11th & 13th Speaker of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly from 2013 to 2018 and 2004 to 2008. He had served as Deputy Speaker of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly under Speaker Badruddin Amiruldin from 1999 to 2004. He is a member of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN).[1]
Political career
[edit]Md Rozai Shafian joined UMNO in 1996. He elected as Sungai Tiang assemblyman in 1999 state election and elected as Deputy Speaker of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly. In 2004 and 2008, he contest on Pendang seat, however defeated by Mohd Hayati Othman from PAS. In 2004 to 2008; 2013 to 2018, he served as Speaker of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly.
Death
[edit]Md Rozai Shafian died on 26 February 2024 at the age 69 in Cardiac Care Unit, Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital at 11.40pm.[2][3]
