Low Life (Korean: 파인: 촌뜨기들) is an upcoming South Korean period drama television series written by and directed by Kang Yun-sung. The series stars an ensemble cast led by Ryu Seung-ryong, Yang Se-jong, and Im Soo-jung. It is scheduled for release on Disney+ on July 16, 2025.[2]
Synopsis
[edit]Gwan-seok and his nephew Hee-dong have been scraping by, supporting their family through petty scams and small-time theft. They are tempted by an offer from Song, an antique dealer, who proposes they make a fortune by salvaging ceramics buried deep in the sea off the coast of Sinan.
With a promise from Chairman Chun to buy everything they retrieve, Gwan-seok and Hee-dong set off for Mokpo, but they are not alone. Chun's man Jeon-chul and Song's man Dae-sik tag along, keeping a close watch on them.
As they arrive in Mokpo, things start to stir. Word spreads, and people drawn by the scent of money begin to crowd in. Just as they are about to recover the treasure, Chun's wife, Jung-sook, who controls the finances, suddenly cuts off the funding. Now, stuck in the same boat, the looters, each hiding their true intentions, start scheming behind each other's backs.

In late 2023, Yang Se-jong and Im Soo-jung were also reported to be joining the cast. A script reading took place on March 6, 2024.[9][10] On April 15, 2024, Disney+ officially confirmed the production of Low Life and announced the cast lineup.[11]
