The Jatav (also spelled Jatava or Jaatav) is a Scheduled Caste community found predominantly in North India. This is a list of notable people from the Jatav community.
Politicians

[edit]- Babu Jagjivan Ram – Veteran Indian freedom fighter, social reformer, and one of the longest-serving cabinet ministers in India. He held portfolios such as Defence, Agriculture, and Labour etc.
Chief Ministers
[edit]- Ram Sundar Das – Former Chief Minister of Bihar (1979–1980), senior Jatav leader and Member of Parliament from Hajipur; known for his simple lifestyle and social justice work.[2]

[edit]- Kanshi Ram – Founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party, a political party that advocates for the rights of Dalits and Bahujan Community.[3]
- Ram Kumar Jatav – Member of Parliament from Rajasthan.
- Chandra Shekhar Azad –Member of Parliament from Nagina, Founder of Bhim Army and Azad Samaj Party.[4]
- Bhajan Lal Jatav – Member of Parliament, 18th Lok Sabha from Karauli–Dholpur (2024–present); former Rajasthan minister.[5]
- Sanjana Jatav – Youngest Dalit Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Bharatpur since June 2024.[6]
- Kammodilal Jatav – Member of Parliament from Morena, Madhya Pradesh (1984–1989); Indian National Congress.
- Dr Bhagirath Prasad – Member of Lok Sabha (2014–2019) from Bhind, Madhya Pradesh. Retd. IAS officer and educationist.[7][8]
- Ram Ji Lal Suman – Samajwadi Party politician; current Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha representing Uttar Pradesh, earlier served as Lok Sabha MP from Firozabad .[9][10]

- Khemchand Bohare – Ex. President of the Akhil Bharatiya Jatav Mahasabha; pioneering Dalit activist and social reformer who helped found the Jatav Mahasabha in 1917 for community upliftment.
- Manik Chand Jatav‑vir – Elected to the 1st Lok Sabha (1952–57) from Bharatpur–Sawai Madhopur (SC), Rajasthan as a member of the Krishikar Lok Party; founder of Jatav Mahasabha.[18]

Arts and Culture
[edit]- Neelam Jatav – A theatre artist who highlights Dalit women's issues through drama and stage performances.[20]
