LBI (Chinese: 利比; pinyin: Lìbǐ；born 19 November 1994), born Shi Baichen (时柏尘),[1] is a Chinese Mandopop singer-songwriter and music producer. He gained significant recognition for his popular and melodically catchy songs, particularly through platforms like Douyin, after primarily working behind the scenes as a producer. He is known for blending pop and hip-hop elements, creating music that resonates broadly within the streaming era's music ecosystem.
Career
[edit]LBI's career initially began in music production, working behind the scenes for other artists. Notably, he was involved in the mixing of the viral hit song "Qing Kong" (清空).
His transition to a performing artist in mainland China saw a significant surge in popularity, largely propelled by his participation in Douyin's "See Music Project" in 2022 with the song "Maybe" (或许).[2] This initiative provided a platform for his music to reach a massive audience, leading to a rapid increase in his streaming numbers.[2]
LBI officially debuted as a recording artist c. 2021 with singles like "Los Angeles" (洛杉矶). His 2022 single "Xiao Cheng Xia Tian" (小城夏天, lit. 'Summer in a Small Town') became particularly successful, becoming one of the best-selling albums in China.[3]
In 2025, he released the EP Jumping Machine (跳楼机), the title track of which he also performed live on the music variety show The Sound of Heavenly Gifts 6 (天赐的声音6).[1] "Jumping Machine" became a Mandopop sensation, garnering over 50 million plays on Spotify as of May 2025, earning approximately 40 million RMB since its release in November 2024.[4][1] His recent releases, such as "Wo Kan Hao De" (我看好的, lit. 'What I'm Optimistic About') and "Guo Du Li Jie" (过度理解, lit. 'Over-understanding'), continue to be released under BeiJingGuoRanLeDong Culture Company.
