Kemel McKenzie (born 1996) is an American software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Stylo Network, an artificial intelligence platform that automates the creation of meeting summaries, action items, and decisions. McKenzie is also known for his earlier work as lead developer at Moon, a cryptocurrency payments startup that enabled users to make online purchases with Bitcoin. He was previously a co-founder of COVERR, a fintech company selected for the 2020 Techstars NYC accelerator.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]McKenzie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He enrolled at Columbia University, where he studied computer science before leaving to pursue freelance software development and startup work. In 2019, his venture Moon was recognized in the Columbia University startup ecosystem and selected as a finalist in a campus-wide entrepreneurship competition.[2]
Career
[edit]McKenzie worked as a freelance software engineer for clients including YouTube, Tinder, and Universal Music Group. He worked on the development of web applications, mobile applications, and immersive technologies like virtual reality and augmented reality.[3]
Moon
[edit]In 2018, McKenzie served as lead developer at Moon (also known as Pay with Moon), a startup that enabled consumers to make online purchases using cryptocurrency. The company gained media attention in 2019 for launching a browser extension that allowed users to pay on e-commerce sites such as Amazon using Bitcoin, through integration with the Lightning Network.[4][5] Moon also participated in the Visa Fast Track program, enabling the issuance of virtual visa cards backed by cryptocurrency balances. Additionally, Moon was selected as part of the Winter 2019 cohort of the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator, a startup accelerator based in New York City.[6]
COVERR
[edit]McKenzie was also a co-founder of COVERR, a fintech platform focused on cash advances for gig economy workers. The company was part of the Techstars NYC 2020 accelerator class and secured partnerships to expand funding access for independent professionals.[7] In 2021, COVERR raised $1 million in annual funding capacity to support gig worker advances.[8]
Stylo Network
[edit]In 2024, McKenzie co-founded Stylo Network, a software platform that uses artificial intelligence to generate structured records of virtual meetings. The tool integrates with video conferencing services including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, producing summaries, task lists, and decision logs from spoken conversations. The platform uses voice recognition, audit trails, and optional HIPAA-readiness for medical professionals.[9]
