Junior Mbuyi (born 23 June 1978) is a Congolese entrepreneur, author, and the founder of the Mbuyi Foundation. He is the author of Une superpuissance africaine en devenir : Quand la RDC s’éveillera, a book about the economic development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Early life and education
[edit]Junior Mbuyi was born on 23 June 1978 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. His family relocated to France when he was five years old.[1] He obtained an MBA in Finance from the École Supérieure de Gestion (ESG) in Paris.[2]
Career
[edit]In 2018, Mbuyi founded JPG Consulting Partners, a consulting firm specializing in advisory services related to credit risk, market risk, and regulatory compliance.[3] The firm operates in more than ten countries, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Morocco, Switzerland, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and the United Kingdom.[4]
In 2022, Mbuyi contributed to efforts that led to Morocco's removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. Mbuyi has also been involved in financial system reform initiatives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has remained on the FATF grey list since 2021. In 2023, he met with several international institutions, including the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank, to advocate for improvements to the business climate in the country.[5] He also held discussions with President Félix Tshisekedi regarding reforms within the Congolese banking sector.[6]
In 2023, Mbuyi served as a speaker and sponsor at the National Days of African Diasporas, an event held under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron.[7] He is also a member of the Franco-Indian Chamber of Commerce and serves as a representative of the African Center for Economic Intelligence and Monitoring (CAVIE), based in Brussels.[8]
Mbuyi is the author of Une superpuissance africaine en devenir : Quand la RDC s’éveillera (October 2023),a book discussing the economic potential of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[9][10][11] It draws on his personal experiences and includes international comparisons related to national development.[12]
In 2024, Mbuyi was featured on the cover of Les Mérites d'Afrique magazine, in a special edition highlighting African leaders recognized for their contributions to development and solidarity.[13]
