Joseph-Marion Leandré (born 9 May 1945) is a retired Haitian footballer who played as a midfielder. He was part of the Haiti national football team that competed in the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany.[1]

Club career

Leandré played domestically for Racing Club Haïtien (commonly known as Racing CH), one of the most successful football clubs in Haiti.[2] Racing CH won the Ligue Haïtienne multiple times, maintaining its dominance during Leandré's playing years.[3]

International career

Leandré earned selection to the Haiti national team and represented his country in several international competitions, including the 1974 FIFA World Cup, Haiti's only appearance in the tournament to date.[4] He played alongside notable teammates such as Emmanuel Sanon, who famously scored against Italy.[5]

Personal life

Joseph-Marion comes from a footballing family. His younger brother, Fritz Leandré, was also a professional player who represented Haiti at the international level.[6] The Leandré brothers are among a handful of family pairs to feature in Haiti's football history.[7]

Legacy

Leandré is remembered as part of the "golden generation" of Haitian football, which achieved the historic feat of World Cup qualification.[8] Haiti's 1974 appearance remains an important milestone in Caribbean football history.[9]
