Controversies

[edit]

In April 2016, Mai was involved in a traffic accident in Trial Farm, Orange Walk, resulting in the death of pedestrian Julia Arana. While not criminally charged, a civil court ordered him to pay BZD 200,000 (USD 100,000) in damages to Arana’s family. The incident drew public scrutiny but did not significantly impact his political trajectory.[3][4]
