Jannathul Uloom Arabic College (JUAC) is a religious educational institute affiliated with the Sunni Muslim community in Palakkad, Kerala, India. Founded in 1967 by Shaikhuna E. K. Hasan Musliyar, it was the second Islamic Arabic college in Kerala established by Sunni Muslims, following Jami'a Nooriyya Arabic College in Pattikkad, and the first of its kind in Palakkad district.
Curriculum
[edit]JUAC offers an eight-year integrated programme that combines religious and secular education. The course is structured into three phases:
- Three-year secondary programme
- Two-year senior secondary programme
- Three-year degree programme
The curriculum includes Islamic subjects such as Quran, Tajweed, Hadith, Usul al-Hadith, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, Aqidah, Tasawwuf, Nahw, Sarf, Mantiq, Balagha, and comparative religion. It also incorporates general subjects like mathematics, social sciences, history, physics, chemistry, and biology. Since 1999, PSC-certified computer courses have also been included. All students are required to enroll in an accredited degree programme in arts or commerce from a recognized university alongside their religious studies.
Students who complete the full eight-year course receive the Moulavi Fadhil ULOOMI Certificate and become eligible for admission to the Faizy Degree at Jami'a Nooriyya Arabic College.
Library
[edit]The college has a well-equipped library with collections in Islamic studies, history, literature, and general subjects. It houses books in multiple languages including Arabic, English, Malayalam, and Urdu, and subscribes to several periodicals.
Admission
[edit]Admission is open to boys who have completed their primary education at a recognized SKIMVB madrasa and formal school. Entrance is determined through written and oral examinations. A separate one-year "Muqthasar" batch also admits students through a special entrance exam conducted annually.
Student life
[edit]The Jannathu Thwalaba Student's Association (JTSA) is the official student union, promoting academic and extracurricular development. JTSA organizes events, seminars, and da‘wah activities, particularly in the Palakkad and Coimbatore regions, through its various sub-committees.
