Janees Wong Lok-yin (Chinese: 黃洛妍, born 26 June 1997) is a Hong Kong female singer and violinist.[1][2] She was the runner-up of the second season of 2022 Hong Kong TVB singing talent show Stars Academy, and is currently a TVB Manager Contract artist.
Biography

[edit]Wong started learning violin in 2006,[3] obtained the FTCL violin performance diploma from Trinity College in Hong Kong at the age of 11,[4] she has won the championship in various violin categories at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival for eight consecutive years and has also achieved good results in other competitions. In the third grade of middle school, she went to Austria to study and further her music studies. At the age of 15, she was admitted to the Salzburg Mozarteum University, where she completed a bachelor's degree in violin performance. Then she completed a bachelor's degree in violin performance at the Prayner Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna. She once studied under famous violinists Zheng Shisheng and Pierre Amoyal.[5][6][7]
In 2021, Wong participated in the MV of the song "Cracks" by the Hong Kong band All for One,[8][9] and responsible for the rap part.
In 2022, Wong participated in the second season of TVB singing talent show Stars Academy. In it, Wong was selected by mentor JW Wong Ho-yee to join the blue team, and advanced to the next round with high scores by singing "Leave the Key" (留低鎖匙) and singing "Still" (依然) with Pamela Chiu. Wong sang the song "Gutters" by Vincy Chan in the semi-finals and won public attention and was ranked in the top three in the audience vote,[10][11] finally won the runner-up in the finals.[12]
