Janet Bugembe is a Ugandan entrepreneur, mentor, and founder of Journey to the Boardroom (JTB). She is also known as Janet Navuga Bugembe. With over 19 years’ experience, she champions youth empowerment and inclusive corporate leadership, impacting over 300,000 globally through mentorship and board-level training. She also leads Cinq Diamandes Group and serves on several boards.[1][2][3][4][5]

Education and background

Janet studied from Gayaza High School and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Banking and Finance from Makerere University. She is the founder of the mentorship class, an initiative aimed at bridging the skills gap among youth aged 18 to 30. Her business ventures include a distribution company supplying biodegradable cleaning products across seven African countries and a training division offering services in leadership, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and sales. She has trained over 50,000 farmers in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, enhancing agricultural productivity. [6]

Janet is a seasoned entrepreneur and mentor with over 19 years of experience, founder of Journey to the Boardroom (JTB), a mentorship program aimed at preparing professionals for boardroom leadership, and The Mentorship Class, which empowers youth through transformative training. She leads Cinq Diamandes Group, specialising in eco-friendly products and event management. Her initiatives have impacted over 300,000 individuals globally, and she serves on several boards, including the Uganda Aviation School, Palle Moeller Foundation and Victoria Motors Limited.[1][3][7][8][9] She has represented Uganda at international forums, including the World Export Development Forum and the African Union. Personal life

Janet is married to Andrew Bugembe with one child, and together they co-founded the mentorship class, a transformative training initiative for youths aged 18 to 30 years.[6]

Awards

In 2018, she was recognized for her outstanding contribution to youth entrepreneurship in Uganda.[6] At the 40th anniversary of the Chevening Scholarship in Uganda, held on November 29, 2023, at Protea Hotel Kampala, British High Commissioner to Uganda, Kate Airey, presented the award for most outstanding Chevening Alumnus to Janet. She was recognized for her significant contributions to youth empowerment and leadership development in Uganda. [4]
