Irate was an American Hardcore punk band from Queens, New York City, known as an early example of Beatdown hardcore.

History

Irate was formed in 1996 in Queens, New York, by vocalist Jason Demarco. Their early demo and debut album 11:34 (1998) attracted attention in the hardcore underground. [1] Throughout the early 2000s, Irate toured the East Coast hardcore circuit, performing with Full Blown Chaos, and Sworn Enemy. The group disbanded in 2005.[2]

Musical style and influence

Irate is often cited as an early examples of beatdown hardcore. Their lyrics often cover themes of vengeance, inner rage, and street life.[3]
