Hegoledh is an upcoming short film written and directed by Guy Potter.[1] The film was funded via Crowdfunder[2] and is the follow up to Trengellick Rising.[3]

Synopsis

[edit]

Cornish for 'superstition', tempers fray in Hegoledh as bad omens run rife and a shortage of fish befalls a remote fishing village in Cornwall. A stranger arrives to help, but *something* is stopping the fish from biting, and no one knows why.[4]

Development

[edit]

Development of the film began in late 2024, with Guy Potter writing the script as part of an MA course whilst studying at Falmouth University.[5] Intending to expand on the success of Trengellick Rising, it was decided that Hegoledh should also be shot on 16mm Kodak film, though this time, in colour[6]

In September 2024 it was decided that the film be commissioned separately from just educational study, and was moved into pre-production by High Sierra Films. The fundraising page was launched on Crowdfunder in mid-November, 2024.[2]

Filming

[edit]

Filming began in March 2025, with principal photography taking place on the Helford River in Cornwall[7] and has successfully wrapped as of 23rd March 2025. The film is now entering post-production as the film enters it's editing phase. [8]
