Heather MacNab (born October 9, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who most recently played as a forward for the North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She played college soccer for the Princeton Tigers.
Early life and college career
[edit]MacNab grew up in Carmel, Indiana, north of Indianapolis.[2] She attended Culver Academies, earning three-time MVP honors and two-time all-state honors on the soccer team.[3] She played club soccer for FC Pride.[3] She committed to play college soccer for the Princeton Tigers at age 15.[2]
Princeton Tigers
[edit]When the Ivy League cancelled fall sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, MacNab took a gap year before starting college. The summer before college, she played for Lady Victory FC in the pre-professional Women's Premier Soccer League.[2] She later played summer soccer for Indy Eleven in the USL W League while in college.[4] MacNab led Princeton with 7 assists and scored 3 goals in 19 in her freshman season in 2021.[3] She earned honorable mention All-Ivy honors as a sophomore in 2022, after scoring a career-high 6 goals with 2 assists in 17 games.[3]
MacNab dealt with injury to start her junior year in 2023, finishing the season with 2 goals and 6 assists in 19 games.[3][5] Though listed on the roster as a forward, she was deployed all over the field by head coach Sean Driscoll in her first few seasons before establishing herself as the starting left back in her senior year.[5][6] One of the team's captains in 2024, she started 17 games and recorded 2 goals and 9 assists, earning first-team All-Ivy honors.[3] She assisted both goals in a 2–0 final win against Brown in the 2024 Ivy League tournament.[6]
Club career

[edit]MacNab was invited to train as a non-roster player with the North Carolina Courage in the 2025 preseason.[7] On March 21, 2025, North Carolina announced that they had signed MacNab to a short-term contract, lasting almost a month.[8][9]
