Heather Brown Dodge
Heather Brown Dodge (born Heather Yvonne Brown, December 30, 1975) is an American actress and singer. She is known for her appearances in television and film during the late 1990s and early 2000s, as well as her work as a vocalist in independent music projects including with Gary Jules, Esquimaux and Your New Parents. She is married to songwriter Graham Dodge and is the mother of actor Luke Dodge.
Early life and education

[edit]Heather began acting in the mid-1990s. Her notable roles include:
- Homicide: Life on the Street (1994, TV)
- In God We Trust (2000), a short film directed by Jason Reitman
- Gulp (2001), a short film directed by Jason Reitman
- Not Another Teen Movie (2001)
Music career
[edit]Heather Brown Dodge is a vocalist known for her work in several indie and folk-based musical collaborations.
Esquimaux
[edit]She was the lead vocalist in the indie folk group Esquimaux, alongside her husband Graham Dodge and James Sajor. The band debuted live at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles in 2004 and received airplay on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. Their notable work includes the Tiger EP, engineered by renowned producer Steve Albini, featuring Eric Stock (of Stroke 9) on drums.
Esquimaux also recorded:
- For the Record, featuring Brian Gibson (of Lightning Bolt) on bass,
- Honey and Dear, a duet featuring Gary Jules,
- Gleaming the Truth, another track featuring Eric Stock on drums.
Collaborations
[edit]Dodge has also performed with singer-songwriter Gary Jules and contributed vocals to other independent music recordings in the Los Angeles and Maryland music scenes.
Gary Jules and the Group Rules
[edit]Dodge was an original member and vocalist in the supporting band for Gary Jules, known as Gary Jules and the Group Rules, in which she was active between 2000-2008 and appears on the 2008 album Bird by Gary Jules and the Group Rules, various radio performances on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic,[2][3] and occasionally reunites with the band for special live performances.[4]
Your New Parents
[edit]In 2024, Dodge was the lead vocalist for the indie rock project Your New Parents, alongside Graham Dodge, Mark Jickling of Half-Japanese, and Jake Fine. The group released an EP titled Westminster, inspired by themes from their local community.
Personal life
[edit]Heather is married to songwriter, author and technologist Graham Dodge. They reside in Maryland and have five children, including actor Luke Dodge.
