Hayley Kaye Penhall (born 6 February 2003) is an Australian cricketer who plays for Adelaide University Cricket Club in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association (ATCA) Senior Women’s Competition in South Australia. She has played in both First and Second Grade matches since the 2022–23 season.
Career
[edit]2022–23 season
[edit]Penhall played in the Women’s Second Grade competition during the 2022–23 ATCA season. In Round 11, she was part of Adelaide University's win over Hope Valley, where the team bowled out the opposition for 60 runs in a T20 fixture.[1]
She also participated in the Grand Final of the same grade, contributing in a match where Adelaide University defended a total of 113 to defeat Eastern Falcons by 15 runs.[2]
2023–24 season
[edit]In the following season, Penhall was included in the club’s First Grade squad. She bowled four overs against Para Hills in the opening round, conceding 28 runs.[3]
She also appeared in additional matches throughout the season, including games against West Torrens and a second fixture against Para Hills.[4]
Playing style
[edit]Penhall is primarily used as a bowler in limited-overs cricket and has opened the bowling in T20 matches. She has maintained an economy rate between six and seven runs per over in First Grade games.[citation needed]
